Safe Return Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 30, 2026

Safe Return is a free personal-safety app that works as a "dead man's switch": you start a delayed alert before a situation that feels uncertain, and if you don't confirm you're fine in time, the app automatically notifies your trusted contacts with your location. This policy explains what data we process to provide that service, and what rights you have over it.

1. Data controller

Safe Return
Contact for any privacy question or to exercise your rights: admin@asperor.com

2. What data we collect

3. What we use your data for

Solely to provide the service: computing your alert's deadline, sending it to your contacts with your name and location if you don't confirm in time, and helping you if something isn't working as expected.

We do not use your data for advertising, we do not build profiles from it, and we never sell it. Safe Return is a free app with no monetization.

4. Legal basis

We process your data because it is necessary to provide the service you actively request (GDPR art. 6.1.b), and because you give explicit consent by voluntarily entering location data and trusted-contact data (GDPR art. 6.1.a).

About your contacts' data: the name, email and phone number of your trusted contacts are entered by you, not by them. Before adding someone, make sure you have their go-ahead to share their details with us, solely so we can notify them if you trigger an alert.

5. Who we share your data with

We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes, and we never sell it. We do work with providers strictly necessary for the service to function:

6. How long we keep your data

For as long as your account stays active. Alerts that were cancelled or sent, and their delivery log, are kept for up to 12 months for support and security purposes, unless you request deletion earlier. You can delete your account and all your data yourself at any time from within the app, or by writing to admin@asperor.com — detailed instructions at how to delete your account.

7. Security

In the interest of honesty: the app does not currently have a duress PIN or a cancellation PIN, so anyone with physical access to your unlocked phone who knows the gesture to reveal the app could cancel an alert on your behalf. This is a known limitation we are working on.

8. Your rights

You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection and restriction of processing at any time by writing to admin@asperor.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Spain, the AEPD) if you believe we haven't handled your request properly.

9. Children

Safe Return is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under that age.

Safe Return does not replace emergency services. If you are in immediate danger, call 112 (EU) or your local emergency number.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if how the app works changes. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. If a change is significant, we will let you know inside the app itself.
